Cobb County has been awarded a federal grant to buy properties to turn into green space in a neighborhood plagued by years of flooding. The county would use more than $1 million in grant money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to acquire five properties in the Red Oak Park subdivision in east Cobb, and two properties on Rio Montana Drive. The homes would be demolished and the land would be set aside as undeveloped green space.
